Short-term Rehab Expansion Opening This Fall!
Big things are happening at The Overlook! We’re putting the finishing touches on something exceptional. The Overlook’s newly expanded sub-acute rehabilitation wing is almost ready —growing from 27 to 40 private rooms, each designed with comfort, privacy, and healing in mind.
This fall, we’re adding beautifully renovated spaces, private rooms, and enhanced therapy services to deliver the best possible post-acute recovery experience, including:
• All private suites, including 13 additional rooms
• Individualized therapy plans tailored to your needs
• Access to rehabilitation services up to 7 days a week
• A new state-of-the-art dining experience
Master Planning Update February 7, 2025
We are pleased to inform you that The Overlook’s Master Planning Phase 1 renovation project is underway, with an estimated timeframe for completion of fall, 2025. The Overlook has partnered with South Coast Improvement Company as our General Contractor, in conjunction with RLPS Architects.
The project includes the closure of 21 long term care beds, while also creating a more modern and welcoming environment, as we increase The Overlook’s Short-Term Rehabilitation/Post Acute Unit by 13 additional beds. The new Post Acute Unit once complete, will be located on what is currently the 2nd floor of skilled nursing. The Overlook’s new unit composition will consist of 78 total long term care private rooms and 40 short term rehabilitation private rooms.
We recognize that our construction may be an inconvenience to our Residents, Team Members and Visitors, and we thank you for your understanding. The construction staging area is fenced off and located behind the Skilled Nursing building. You can view the area as you enter the main Campus, on the right hand side of the main driveway, prior to approaching the Pavilions and Baystate Mobile Veterinary Clinic. The staging area is being used for contractor equipment, building materials, and contractor parking. For your safety, we kindly request that you avoid this worksite area, when visiting the Charlton Campus.

Master Planning Update September 27, 2024
We are pleased to announce the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has approved The Overlook’s Notice of Determination of Need application to further enhance our current skilled nursing facilities and programming.
The Overlook will redesign and renovate its long-term care facility, including renovating its short-term rehabilitation unit, dining room, nurse stations, therapy rooms and additional clinical and ancillary services, while simultaneously addressing deferred maintenance issues within the existing facility.
The renovation project will include the closure of 21 long term care beds, while also increasing short-term rehabilitation by 13 additional beds, resulting in 78 total long term care private rooms and 40 short term rehabilitation private rooms.
Overlook’s 28 bed rest home, 14-bed Assisted Living Memory Care and Vista Adult Day Program will not be modified at this time.
Construction is expected to begin November 2024, with an estimated timeframe for completion in the fall of 2025.
