1. Can I bring my pets?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions, and we love to answer with a resounding YES! The Overlook is happily a dog- and cat-friendly community. We have a dog park and miles of walking trails to enjoy with your furry friend!

2. What kinds of activities do residents participate in at The Overlook?

When it comes to activities, the possibilities are endless. Our gorgeous, 450-acre campus has miles of walking trails and picnic spots. You’ll find a lot of clubs and activities happening regularly, from the brew crew to the tennis club to the continued education opportunities to the woodshop.

Moreover, if there is an activity or a club that you’re interested in that we don’t currently have, we encourage and empower residents to get it up and running! 3. Is there a waitlist to live at The Overlook?

Our cottages and larger two-bedroom apartments do have waitlists, so we encourage you to plan ahead if you’re interested in The Overlook. 

We also offer an option that allows residents to move to the top of the list for a preferred residence while continuing to live in the community. When that residence becomes available, the move can be made with no additional fees.

4. What is the average age of the residents that live here?

Although a fairly broad spectrum of ages is represented at The Overlook, the average age of our residents is about 78. Click here to learn more about a few amazing residents at The Overlook!

5. Do you rent any of your apartment homes or cottages?

Typically, The Overlook operates on an “entrance fee” model. Although we do not provide permanent rental options for residents, we aim to be as flexible as possible to accommodate specific needs. We also have apartment homes available for your family and friends, should your holiday guest list exceed the space available in your own residence.

6. What is included in my monthly fee?

Your monthly fee covers an all-inclusive life at The Overlook: weekly housekeeping, all maintenance and landscaping, chef-prepared dining, activities and weekly excursions, and much more. You can read more about our services here, but we encourage you to call us to discuss in more detail.

7. Do I have to be a mason to live at The Overlook?

8. How many residents are currently at The Overlook?

Just over 280 residents bring a lively spirit, a rich history and background, and a zest for living at The Overlook!

9. I like to travel. Can I leave my residence unattended for long periods of time?

Yes! Our staff will ensure your residence’s security and maintenance while you travel. All you need to do is lock the door and go! You will find your home just as you left it when you return.

10. The Overlook seems like a tight-knit community. How do you integrate yourself in with everyone?

One of the biggest reasons many of our residents chose to live at The Overlook was because of the people–they are friendly and welcoming. In addition to our official staff-based welcome committee, a grassroots group of residents always makes a point to welcome new residents and invite them to activities and meals.
