The Overlook is a vibrant senior living community with residents who lead fulfilling and engaging lives. With a variety of premier amenities, interesting programming, and exciting events, residents always have something to look forward to. From meaningful social connections to newfound adventures, residents express what makes The Overlook a cherished home. Dana Gould: A Voice of Community Engagement Resident Dana Gould actively participates in a number of committees: Finance Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, Brew Crew, IT Committee, Beautification Group, and Gardening Group. He said, “[I] enjoy the chance to know what is going on and the chance to have input to management decisions for the campus.” Dana said his mornings at The Overlook begin with leisurely walks around the campus. When he’s not in one of his committee meetings, he has plenty of other things to look forward to. When asked about his favorite activities, he answered, “socializing with fellow residents during trips, social events, and shared meals at lunch and dinner.” The Overlook provides opportunities for residents to connect each day, whether it’s during mealtimes, planned events, or the outings residents can take to enjoy a day out. Pete and Auggie: A Duo’s Dynamic Favorites Residents Pete and Auggie expressed their love for a variety of things at The Overlook: art classes, the swimming pool, and mealtimes at the community. “We look forward to participating in [the] community and enjoy[ing] [a] healthy lifestyle,” they said. Pete and Auggie are active residents at The Overlook, participating in many clubs and committees. They also enjoy the community interaction and personal learning they get in art class. Another way they connect with the community is by attending Fun at Five. “[These are] resident-organized Sunday night get-togethers with resident interaction.” Pete and Auggie also participate in the spiritual circle. “We enjoy faith-based fellowship and Biblical learning,” they said. They said they’re active in Napkin Folding, which reduces staff workload and is a great community opportunity. They also participate in Sing Along in the Health Center to bring joy to others. Both Pete and Auggie are part of Overlook University. “[We enjoy] personal learning and increased knowledge,” they said. The couple is part of the Finance Committee, where they learn and understand The Overlook’s finances and have an opportunity to contribute, and the Volunteer Committee, where they have the chance to seek opportunities to help others. One new thing the duo enjoys doing is participating in group trips. “I learned that we can do new things and have adventures even in retirement,” said Pete.
